For over 50 years, Kestner has supplied and installed
many units to the pulp and paper industry. Most of the units concentrate black
liquor, a stream that must be concentrated before being burned in a recovery
boiler.
Thanks to its know-how, Kestner can identify the best technical
arrangement in terms of thermal efficiency and installation layout, for new
projects and for increasing the capacity of existing units.
Since it is
highly desirable to minimise the amount of water to be burned, the black liquor
is usually concentrated in three steps, namely:
- The concentration up to 40/50% TS,
- The over concentration up to 65/72% TS,
- The super concentration up to 80% TS or more.
In addition to the above activities in pulp mills, Kestner can offer process
equipment for:
- The stripping of fouled condensates (removal of methanol, mercaptans, etc …)
- The recovery of the sulphate value from incineration ashes (with chloride
removal)
- The collection and incineration of non condensable gasses
- The concentration of bleaching effluents.
